Submission Guidelines
Research from any discipline (natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, etc.) is eligible for publication in the Maryland Undergraduate Research Journal (MURJ).
Eligibility
- Primary author must be a University of Maryland undergraduate, or a recent graduate (within the past year) of the University of Maryland.
- Submissions must contain original research conducted by a University of Maryland undergraduate.
- Submissions may not have been previously published in another research journal.
- Submissions must be approved for publication in MURJ by a mentor (principal investigator, faculty member, etc.).
- Mentors may be listed as secondary authors.
Formatting
- Submissions should fall within 2,000 to 4,000 words in length; submissions that fall outside this range will also be considered.
- Any relevant figures/tables should be included in the submission, and labeled appropriately.
- Submissions should be a single file; separate attachments will not be considered without prior approval.
- Submissions must be in one of the following file formats: DOC, DOCX.
- Successful submissions will be formatted by MURJ prior to publication.
Structure
- Submissions do not need to follow any particular structure; however, submissions should be structured similarly to other research articles.
- Submissions should include an abstract as a brief summary; abstracts will not be included in the word count.
- Submissions should follow APA style for any references, citations, etc.
Submission Deadline
MURJ has no submission deadline; submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
